Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of SVEC is elected directly from the membership. The Cooperative is divided into seven districts, roughly equal in population, and one director is elected from each district. Term of office is three years.

It is the Directors' duty to plan and guide the development of your Cooperative, and they are expected to keep themselves informed of all the national, state or local matters that affect the Cooperative.

Directors serve without salary, but receive a fee and expenses for attending board and other designated meetings. You, as a Member, are eligible to be elected and serve as a director.

Section 4.06 of your Cooperative's by-laws sets forth the methods of nomination to the board of directors. You may be nominated to run for election by the nominating committee or nomination can come from a petition signed by not less than 30 Members. Petitions must be filed no less than 45 days prior to the annual meeting. Nominations may also be made from the floor at the Annual Membership meeting. For further information on eligibility and nomination to the board of directors, please review your by-laws or come by the office.
