ENERGY CONSERVATION
WHILE YOU'RE AWAY...
The electricity used in your home does not stop while you are away from your home unless it is disconnected. Your refrigerator, freezer, furnace, and water heater continue to operate. After winterizing your home, you may want to disconnect the power at your main breaker to assure that no power is used.
If you want to know the amount of electricity used while you are away, read your meter just before you leave and immediately upon your return.
In order to prevent your service from being unnecessarily disconnected during an absence, call our office and let us know how long you plan to be away.
WHENEVER YOU PLAN TO BE OUT OF TOWN, PLEASE ARRANGE FOR PAYMENT OF YOUR BILL.
ENERGY AUDITS
SVEC has trained staff available to perform energy audits for all services. Call our Member Service Manager at 530/233-3511 to request an energy audit of your home or business.
SVEC also has energy consumption monitors available for tracking and monitoring the electrical use of your home or business. Please contact our office to have our Member Servcie staff install one of these monitors.
IRRIGATION EFFICIENCY INCENTIVES
Download our Energy Efficiency Incentives PDF brochure..
SVEC is now providing incentives for installing energy efficient irrigation measures. Incentives are available for energy-efficient hardware improvements such as installation or replacement of pressure regulators, nozzles, sprinklers and gaskets.
Incentives are also available for National Electrical Manufactures Association premium motors ranging from 5 horsepower to 500 horsepower.
Surprise Valley Electric will continue to provide pump tests at no cost to our members. An ultrasonic flow meter is used to measure flow in gallons per minute. The discharge pressure is recorded and the pumping water level is measured using a sounder or water level indicator. Electrical Input is recorded or measured off the electric meter to calculate kilowatt demand and convert to electrical horsepower.
This data is used to determine the operating efficiency of the pumping plant and can be used to determine if the pumping plant is in need of repair or replacement.
Please contact Lynn Culp, Member Service Manager, if you have a project you believe is eligible for an irrigation incentive or to schedule a pump test.
